Some people are saying that if Trump announces he's running just before the 2022 midterms it might throw off the momentum the Democrats are currently enjoying.
But they are ignoring what happened the LAST time.
Trump broke two records: he got the most votes for any sitting president, and he got the most votes AGAINST HIM off any president ever.
In the highest turnout ever.
From experience we can derive a very simple thing: the idea of Trump winning again scares the shit out of MOST voters.
No way over 80 million people, including millions who are generally just too detached to vote at all, got out to elect Biden, these were votes against Trump.
Even Democrats have been unsettled by the Big Lie, they are just as susceptible to the "if so many people are saying it so often there must be SOME truth to it" distortion, which makes them concerned that maybe must voters actually don't care if Trump gets elected again.
But the stakes have only gone up since then.
The idea that Trump could win in 2024 is a complete rejection of history.
Sure, Biden has gone down in the esteem of many, but we must remember: most people never expected much from him besides recognizing him as "not-Trump".
That hasn't changed.
If Trump actually does run, it will be great for Democrats, because it will assure a Democratic victory in 2024.
Not only that, but if anything Democratic voters have gotten more motivated since 2020. They can see the right rising, so of people were freaked out enough to get up and vote for some goofy old white guy before, they're gonna be just that much more driven in the midterms in the wake of the path of the right wing SCOTUS decimation of our rights and culture.
The Democrats are poised to receive a massive backlash benefit that they didn't even have to work for.
Instead of getting anxious, actual normal Americans should just sit back and watch the Republicans destroy themselves.
But then get up and VOTE, like we did in 2020.
